Townes at Herdon is a great community to be a part of. The units are excellent, modern and spacious. All of the property management staff are awesome!! There are friendly and never make you feel like you are a bother when you need to speak to them in person. It's a safe community and you can walk around the community at anytime and feel at ease. Maintenance staff is excellent and I never had to wait longer than 2 days for a work order to be accepted and resolved. Townes at Herndon has been an okay place to live, but there are serious issues with the units that management refuses to fix correctly (one of our windows was leaking, they patched the leak but never dried the drywall out despite us noting we worried about mold), the build quality is bad... our deck door frame had a massive gap that allowed cold or hot air in, and the fireplace is not closed in with a screen (violation of VA fire code).

Additionally, management has gone down hill amazingly.... First, when Greystar replaced managers, the new one wanted to institute a parking permit system. He sent out several emails reminding people to come to the office with our car registration info (which they had already!) to get a permit. they planned on enforcing towing and making guest parking a whole thing. Then after weeks, he decided not to move forward. What a giant waste of time (for both residents and his staff).

Then the big storm came. There was zero communication from the office about snow removal. They sent one email about 4 hours into the storm reminding people to keep their faucets dripping to prevent freezing and block any drafty windows or doors (going back to bad build quality). It took them a week to dig the complex out - and i get it, this was a wild storm. But it costs nothing to send an email out to residents keeping them updated on snow removal. Have friends who just moved into a complex near by that is far cheaper and was far more communicative about snow removal and how it was going. Again, not communicating is just poor management.

Additionally the dog park is single gated - not double gated as is industry standard in literally every other dog park for safety in what was clearly a cost cutting move. It looks so close to being double gated and then they just... did not put in the second gate. Read More

They are very nice and easy to talk to as a staff. The living area is modern and updated. In a great area near downtown Herndon.

Townes at Herndon is a nice, quiet community within walking distance to the main Herndon square and the W&OD trail. We had a number of issues upon move-in that were frustrating, but they were mostly fixed by maintenance soon after.

This is a very clean and safe area. People are mindful and respectful. No Noise, No fights, No excessive socializing as people are all professionals and spend most of their day working or taking care of their matters.
