Not Terrible if You Like All Utilities Included

I lived in the Norsemen III, in the smallest bedroom with the built-in shelves and the ceiling fan. My experience was mixed - I moved out due to a roommate conflict with my lease being bought out - and can attest to the trash being left out by the fire pit from the Halloween parties into December, when I left Northern View. Northern View also hosts school organization functions, and they did have some large gatherings while I lived there for a year and a half. My two roommates varied wildly in... age, so don't let age stop you from applying. They also charged one year for parking despite their website advertising free parking, then the next leasing term they did away with the paid parking. They implemented that mentioned guest pass that cost $30 for a week and more for a month, making a month-long pass more viable than a week-long one. The heat/AC didn't work in one of the rooms most of the time I was there, the windows got stuck sometimes, and my roommate kept getting stuck in her room due to her door not being level - a fault of the unit. The wifi connection was also worse in the front of the apartment than it did on my end of the apartment. The third bedroom of Norsemen III - Room Z - is just the dining room with a terrible wall that separated from the ceiling, and I could hear my roommate cooking as well as people's dogs through my wall and slamming doors rattling one of my wall decorations. If you're a heavy sleeper, this wouldn't be a bad arrangement. I would suggest finding someone you know or are comfortable with because having similar interests or likes are not a good basis for roommates. Overall I would go back here while I'm still in school, but if the option for similar-sized spaces is on the market, look into those first.

Highly recommend!

I highly recommend living at Northern View. The living spaces are up to date, there’s great amenities such as hammocks, a fire pit, wooded trails, as well as a nice club house with corn hole, grills, and a fancy complimentary coffee machine. Not to mention it being a great cost since utilities are included!

Not worth it anymore

As a resident for about 4 years now, I can say that upon the first 6 months of living here were fine, but since then, this apartment complex has drastically decreased in quality and maintence, all while the price just keeps increasing. I am in a 3 bed 2 bath and between 2 other roommates, this complex receives over $1700 just from our apartment. And next lease, they want to increase each tenants rent by almost 50 bucks because apparently "market value is increasing around here" during COVID...... Yeah right. This place does not stay very clean at all; it is January 24th and looking at the back public grass area, there's still smashed pumpkins and empty beer cans all the way back from Halloween parties. Expect to hear loud thumping music into the late hours of the night literally every night of the week from the parking lot, other apartments, etc. On the weekends I am expecting it and don't mind it, but if you have to go to work or an early class on Monday or Tuesday, don't expect to get a lot of sleep. I understand it's a college environment and expected that moving in here, but the amount of disrespectful things you encounter from other residents here will make you wish you never considered signing a lease here. While this place is very conveniently close to campus and you are able to walk to everywhere on campus without much hassle, I would still strongly recommend looking at other apartments if you are trying to find some close to NKU. The maintenance guys are really cool and effective at what they do. You will get to know them well with how often they are at your unit fixing things.

Ehh, I wouldn't recommend

I have lived here about 2 years now. The only thing this place has going for them is location and maintenance staff. The place is convenient for NKU students. The walk is closer than when I lived in a dorm. Maintenance is the only staff that you can rely on. They are super nice and respond fast to requests. If something is emergent on weekends or when the office is closed, they will come out right away. Never had an issue with them.
Management is not great at all. They are awful at communicating...
. I have had a few time sensitive issues I brought up to them and they seemed nice about it and said they would get back with me. I checked in almost weekly for a response and never got it. It's been 4 months and I think it's safe to say they aren't going to help me which is very frustrating. This has happened a couple times. If they do respond, different staff members say different things and usually I get screwed over. I would recommend getting everything they say written down and saved if it is important. I know other residents that have had similar issues with management.
It seems like the place is money hungry. Rent has gone up a stupid amount. I can rent a nearby 2 bed/2 bath apartment by myself and it would be the same price as leasing a single bedroom here. There is no parking for guests. If someone comes, you have to have them park at a store, pick them up, and take them back later if you don't want towed. They have an option of a guest pass, but the price is ridiculous for literally a week or month. It is nice that all utilities are included, and laundry is in every unit, but the wifi doesn’t work well.
Since it is student living, residents are not always considerate. The first year was great, then new residents moved in and they blast music at 2am for an hour or more (not exaggerating - many people have talked to them, but it doesn't help). The music shakes my apartment, and I can't get any sleep. This happens a few times a week.
Overall if I could go back, I wouldn't rent this place. It is better than a dorm I lived in, but way worse than various apartments my friends live at. The first year wasn't terrible because I never reached out to management, but as soon as I did, I wanted out. I regret signing my second year and can't wait to move out this August - seems too far :(
