The service at Oak Crest Apartments has been absolutely unacceptable.
Last year, the air conditioning in my apartment was out of service for months during the hottest part of the summer. Despite living in a small one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit, I was forced to spend nearly $200 a month on electricity just to make the apartment barely tolerable.
Earlier this month, the AC broke down yet again. I reported the issue immediately and have followed up with the leasing office numerous times, but more... than twenty days later, the problem still hasn’t been fixed. Instead of providing a real solution, management’s only response has been to offer two portable fans.
Those fans are hardly a substitute for a functioning air-conditioning system in the Texas summer heat. Not only is the apartment still uncomfortable, but the constant noise from the fans has made it nearly impossible to get a good night’s sleep. Most nights, I manage only three or four hours of rest. In fact, it’s currently 2:45 a.m., and I’ve just been woken up once again by the relentless hum of the fans.
The lack of urgency and accountability shown by management is deeply frustrating. Residents deserve a safe and habitable living environment, and after weeks without air conditioning, simply providing a couple of fans is not an acceptable solution.
