Our home is on a dirt road on an acre and a half of land in a friendly neighborhood in the town of Jay (Jay and North Troy share a zip code). We live on the main floor with our dog and the furnished apartment is in the basement. The apartment is a... studio space (approximately 550 square feet) with its own separate entrance. It has a kitchenette that includes a two burner hot plate and, in addition to the small dorm size fridge/freezer in the photos, a 5.6 cubic foot fridge in the apartment and a chest freezer in the unfinished part of the basement which is for the tenant's exclusive use. The kitchenette also includes a toaster oven, microwave, coffee pot, hot water kettle, pots, pans, mugs, utensils, and more.

The house is near swimming holes, many hiking and mountain biking trails, snowmobiling trails, nordic skiing trails, and Jay Peak resort is less than ten minutes away. Jay offers many recreational activities including hiking, skiing, an indoor water park, a movie theater, and many delicious restaurants including the local favorite, Miso Hungry, for excellent ramen. We are also close to Lake Memphremagog which is in both Vermont and Quebec. Be sure to bring your passport as Quebec has great recreation opportunities as well as Montreal, which happens to be as close to Jay as Burlington.

We have several local general stores in Jay, Westfield, and Troy that offer beer, wine, and convenience foods. Hoagie's down the street has take away food that locals love and Jay Village Inn in the town of Jay, just a mile away, is a fun local spot to sit down and eat a good meal. Dusit Thai in Newport is one of our favorite restaurants and the only sushi and Thai spot in the area. Berry Creek Farm's farm stand in Westfield is where we go almost daily for fresh veggies between June and October. Grocery stores are in Newport as are pharmacies and other big box stores and Newport Naturals is a great spot for organic food and interesting kitchenware. The Pick and Shovel just off the main street in Newport is the best of the Vermont local economy where you can find everything from supplies for maple sugaring to fish for your tank to seeds for your garden; pretty much anything you might want or need is there and if it's not, the folks who work there can help you find it.
