The Worst Place I’ve Ever Lived

Moving here has been the worst living experience of my life and the management is equally as awful as the building itself.

Aside from the constant stench of weed, screaming neighbors and unbelievable noise below is what I’ve personally been dealing with during my time at The Lofts at West 7th

Week 1: Roach Infestation (they did address this)
Month 1: Handle of Freezer broke off
Month 1: and after filter disgusting - black water. Changed...
it with a “new” filter … it was still black. Just bought our own.
Month 1: dish washer wasn’t working properly. They replaced it 4 times! With a “new” one all were reused and disgusting.
Month 1: Wife’s car was written on in Vaseline in the parking garage.

Month 2: Wife had to speak with Cops mid day on a week day because of a constant domestic
dispute

Month 3: Apartment flooded- this was when I realized how terrible of a company / apartment I was dealing with. Bedroom wall ripped out, carpet ripped out. Kitchen & Living room floor tapped up.

The noise is unbelievable. I can’t begin to accurately describe how loud it is and how thin the walls are.

Please do not move here. You’ll thank me later.

Do not move here

I lived here 2020-2024. I was never late on a rent payment nor missed a payment. The location is great. The maintenance men are some of the coolest, nicest dudes you’ll ever meet.

However, in my time here, I dealt with:

- dog pee from the apartment above us on our balcony for months. Had a corner unit where the balcony was totally unusable. Lofts management did nothing.
- Didn’t have properly working screen doors since the day I moved in. The doors were constantly falling off the tracks and...
one was missing. I put in FOUR service requests and eventually gave up.
- My kitchen sink fell out due to shoddy install work.
- Our dishwasher stopped working and was not draining properly. It was replaced with a unit that had an odd stench coming from it. I pulled one of the panels off to clean it and found out the “new” dishwasher was FULL of bugs.
- The staircase attached to the parking garage ALWAYS reeks of urine and is never cleaned.
- All units have an electric lock. My lock didn’t work one night and of course I couldn’t get ahold of anyone through the “emergency” line.
- There is dog poop everywhere outside. Management always threatens to do something about it but nothing changes.
- Elevators are constantly broken.
- The grills are repulsive. Most have been broken for years. Handles don’t work, no brushed to clean, igniter doesn’t work.
- Heard a man get shot and killed right under my balcony.

You have to pay the extra $25/mo for their valet trash pickup service, even if you live near the trash chute. No way to opt out of it.

Finally; there is NO NUMBER to reach the management office direct. Management a revolving door of people and companies. I’d highly recommended looking elsewhere if you like the West 7th area. Don’t live at The Lofts of West 7th until drastic changes happen. Take these 5-star reviews with a grain of salt.

They Sent The Application Fee to Collections When We Backed out!

Beware of this apartment complex! They charge excessive application fees and other fees that start to add up through the process. It seemed to be a scam they use to line the pockets of the office staff? They likely had no intention of approving the application but were very happy to take the application fees. They told us we had to the end of the day to bring a cashiers check or they would withdraw the application. When we backed out and didnt pay the fee they ran the credit check and background... check anyway. They denied us and now they are trying to collect the application fee through a collection agency!! Please be careful dealing with this company!

BROKEN AC - HOT AS HELL AND GASLIT



I live in the west building and have submitted multiple maintenance requests to fix our AC. When it first broke, I noticed that there was a weird sound and the temperature was noticeably higher than usual - I immediately submitted a maintenance request on August 25th. I have now submitted over 5 maintenance requests over a time span of over a month. Because my roommate and I are both medical students, we leave early in the morning and come back late, meaning there is absolutely no reason our...
electricity bill should be that high for an empty unit most of the time. Our previous electricity bill close to $300 and that is unbelievable for two people who do not touch the thermostat and just leave it at 76 or even 78 degrees to save money.

In addition, that means I am not able to talk to the maintenance staff when they are there to fix it. However, one time, I was home when they came, and I explained the situation and how they have only temporarily fixed the issue. Unfortunately for me, the staff told me that I did not know how to set the thermostat and that it would be cooler in a couple of hours after he set the thermostat. To my disbelief, the AC still did not work after and I had to put in more maintenance requests. This is my second year living in this unit, and I would believe that I would know when the AC unit is not working and how to work my thermostat.

Cherry on top, my roommate and I were finally free the past Saturday and complained in person to the front office. He listened and was apologetic and promised to send the head maintenance, who was not here for the weekend, to come on Monday to check out the issue and actually fix it. Now, it is the following Wednesday and they have not sent anyone.

Imagine my irritation when it is over 100 degrees outside and I come back to an apartment that is supposed to be running at 74 degrees but it is at 80. Imagine my irritation when we receive our electricity bill of over $200 for a unit that had us hot and sweaty for the past month. Imagine my irritation when I complain in person and they promise to stop putting a bandaid on this issue and I have yet to see a fix.

I have pictures of our thermostat that is set at 74 or 76 degrees but it shows that the temperature inside is around 80. The only way me and my roommate have been surviving is through running the fans in our respective rooms.

I expect a solution to this issue and I am posting this as an apartment review everywhere I am able to.
