Broken A/C since day 1 and not in a hurry to fix it
We are very unhappy with this apartment complex. Would you consider a brand new tenant that moved in on June 14th and found the air conditioning doesn’t work, reported it and it’s still not fixed 12 days later acceptable? With a heat advisory? Also the team is far from being helpful. We were not told how to get a mail key, nor were we provided a pool key. When asking for help, the leasing agents are either never available or respond with an attitude. It is beyond disappointing to experience this... lack of care and poor management, especially during a heat advisory. I would avoid this place and will always do a full walk-through of the ACTUAL UNIT and test the A/C, hot water, and other essentials prior to signing. Lesson learned.

They get you through improper communication and lease technicalities
While I had a okay-ish living experience here, I'm extremely disappointed with how management handled my move-out. I seem to be on the hook for rent payments even though I vacated my apartment as the lease ended- because I didn't give them a "formal and written" move out notice.
Yes, I made mistakes - I forgot to submit formal written notice before leaving, and I missed their management email change notification (their management changed, so the email changed too, it was only communicated via a... flyer months prior). I emailed my move-out plans couple of days before the lease ended, but apparently they didn't receive my email
No Clear Reminders - Despite talking to their staff the day of my moveout- telling them I am moving out and asking where to leave the keys, no one ever verbally reminded me about the 45-day notice requirement or the automatic renewal clause buried in the lease.
Even in the old communications regarding move-out, they did not make it clear that the lease would automatically renew to month-to-month! That too about a thousand dollars more expensive than the regular rent! Had to hunt for that info in some email attachment, so now they get to claim no responsibility
Predatory Timing - They're claiming my 45-day notice period only started 3-Weeks AFTER I'd already moved out and returned keys, demanding payment for an empty unit this whole time!
No Good Faith Effort - They acknowledged receiving my move-out call, yet never mentioned I was still technically responsible for rent.
The leasing office was responsive during my tenancy, but this feels like a gotcha tactic rather than reasonable policy enforcement.
Future tenants: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, get all move-out confirmations in writing, and study your lease's fine print - because management certainly won't clarify things when it counts. This property has seen multiple management changes in recent years too, so make sure you are extra vigilant
Pro Tip: Take photos/video of the apartment condition AND any posted notices about policy changes to protect yourself.
I did not pay attention, and now I'm paying $5000 out of pocket

New Management
I have enjoyed my time living at South Grove but it seems to have gotten even better since new management took over. The property is cleaner and maintenance moves fast!

Cheapest for a Reason (and still too expensive)
I have almost no issues in the summer but the winter has consistently been tough. This year the laundry units have been out for months.
Both winters: - There were ants in my kitchen. - Issues with my bathroom plumbing. - The heat stopped working (twice this year).
