For starters, New Orleans downtown, is literally, "the place to be in the U.S. right now". NOLA rocks! My apartment, unlike many others downtown here, has outstanding views in nearly every direction. My own apartment looks directly down world-famous Bourbon Street from a high perch, has a great view of the Mississippi River, a fantastic view of Lake Pontchartrain and mid-city, and for toppers, I have a grand view of Canal and Carondelet Streets where EVERY Mardi Gras parade passes! The building,... built in 1929, and listed on the Historic Register, features lots of vintage brass (in the antique elevators for example), beautiful vintage chandeliers and gold and brass leaf on the ceilings in the lobby. One of the only art-deco buildings in the state, the top of the building is a lovely, ornate gold piece that originally housed the water tower.
