Do not rent here

The noise level is unbearable and the building is managed poorly. Leasing office is not responsive and they do not take your complains seriously. I have suffered a lot from daily noise and lack of action on management side. Do not rent here. It’s not worth it.

Poor building management

Building management is one of the worst you can have, the staff is rude, unpleasant and simply don’t care about the residents
I have lived there for 4 years and could not wait to leave. The staff and their regulations made sure to prevent you from feeling at home. Horrible experience
The location is good but you can find better quality for this price

Only Came For a Tour

Would not recommend going to see this building. It is a waste of time. It was extremely run down, old, and SMELLY. Every part of the building smelt, and it is expensive! Comparing all the apartment I have looked at in DC, this was way too expensive for the quality of the apartments and building. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. You can get a lot more for your money. This building needs a major renovation.

Calvert House: Cordiality, Class and Etiquette

Hello everyone!

I am delighted to write this review today, it has been an outstanding experience! I couldn't be happier when I received a job offer in the Capital of the Nation: Washington DC! Then, I had to decide where to live and sign the lease online, which can be quite challenging. I picked up Calvert House as my home based on the wonderful reviews I read online and the amazing assistance I received from Ms. Rose over the phone or the e-mail. Then when I arrived to DC, I went to see my...
actual apartment, and it was just amazing! First, I couldn't believe how close to the Woodley Park metro, it is just across the street! Then, I was welcomed with a lot of warmth, and cordiality. Everything was ready for me: my apartment was super clean, everything was brand new, and all my questions were answered immediately. The sun room and the deck are just wonderful, I can see a whole view of DC from there, including Washington Memorial that I love. I enjoyed the social events and the "breakfast to go" that are regularly scheduled. I also love to go to the gym on the weekends or invite my friends to grill. The lobby has luxurious furniture, and there is a screen that will always tell you about the train schedule, the weather, and the box you received in the mail. In addition, the concierge services are innumerable, and I feel very safe in the building especially that I am a single mom. The neighborhood is a perfect dream: The National zoo, Rock Creek park and many ethnic and American restaurants. I have also received a nice gift card for Dunkin Donuts and a welcome note from the Manager. Calvert House makes your everyday experience a dream come true. At Calvert House, you will enjoy the luxury of nearby Marriott or Amersham Resort for the price of a studio. You will always be the winner!

Great location except internet

Overall, I really like this location. The apartments are decent size and the walls are pretty thick so you don't hear your neighbors. It is really convenient to the metro (cross the street) and Rock Creek Park. There is parking too which is a plus. The gym is very small. Because the apartment building is sandwiched between two major hotels (Omni and Marriott) there are lots of conference attendees and tourists so you don't get the neighborhood feel. The biggest complaint about the place is its... internet. It is beyond horrible. Most days I do a speed test and it is 195k. Owners don't want to upgrade and lay cable and so there is 7Mb for the entire building of about 200 apts. Apparently there is an upgrade expected to 60M which is still horrible. It is an absolute joke. I hate to say this because otherwise the place is fabulous but as older residents pass on, younger people move in making the internet even worse.
