Update: there were some frustrating moments when management switched from Greystar to Bozzuto, but our experience has since smoothed out.

Overall: Catherine is a stunning building in an awkward corner of Santa Monica.

The Good

The building is modern, with many of the luxury amenities you would expect: pool, rooftop, coffee machine, package lockers. We have a 3-bedroom unit and absolutely love the layout.

The Bad

Santa Monica is nice, but this building is surrounded by different sources of... noise. We have the expo line, a dog pound, and Lincoln Boulevard. The double-paned windows help, but if you open them, expect noise.

Management just added another set of Luxer package lockers, which is great, but now there's a $5/day fee if you leave your package in a locker for more than 48 hours. Read More

The aparment complex looks like it has all the bells and whistles but in reality most things fall short. Our appliances frequently stopped working even from day 1 of moving in. Getting a hold of management or staff commonly took at least 6 phone calls. To top it off, they took out a huge chunk of our security deposit without providing details as to how they got to that number. Red flags all around.

Very expensive condo for very little luxury. There's no quiet hours so the building is loud all day and night. Too many cockroaches in the building for it to feel luxurious. The 'security' just plays on their phone in a corner of the lobby all day while packages get stolen and homeless enter the building. This place needs new management.

The new gym is open 24/7 and is located right in the middle of the apartment building (2nd floor, middle). This place was livable before the gym was added, and could be livable if management takes some measures to minimize noise, but they haven't.

Every day and night gym users are dropping barbells onto the concrete gym floor and slamming medicine balls into the roof/walls. This noise and quaking shocks reverberate into all of the residents apartments and we are constantly woken up. Requests... to add padding to walls or floors, or to set up quiet hours, or to post/inform gym users to be mindful that this is a residential gym that shares walls with neighbors have all been ignored.

Some other issues we've faced: Homeless people getting into the building, mail being stolen as packages are just left in the lobby, amenities are often broken, and maintenance issues take months to be addressed. Read More
