The building is older but well kept. My apartment is completely renovated and modern, which is great. The location is ideal for me and the reason I chose it. The managers on site are nice and respond to my emails pretty quickly.

worst apartment
Hancock Villa managers are not helpful at all. They also demonstrate unprofessional behaviors. They don't have any managerial training at all! They are not available since they are not there all the time.Office is always close. They get angry when you call them, and when you e-mail them they don't respond on a timely manner. Safety is also an issue, there are so many break ins, and properties and cars being vandalized even with cctv installed which is also being charged to the tenants. I'm afraid... to go out at night now. There are no real onsite managers. They increase the rent every year but the place is not even maintain. The hallways are always dirty, carpet on the hallways are filthy. The trash bins are always full and smells really nasty when you are passing at the garage. The managers do not make rounds to make sure everything is working properly along the vicinity. There was a time that sprinklers were left on for more than 2 days!!!! Total waste of water. I bet the managers were not even aware of this.If there is zero rating, that will be it!!!!

Great Apartment!
I have lived here for over a year and I love this building! The building managers are friendly and quick to respond when there is an issue. The location is great, close to all the fun without being smack in the center of it all. The apartment itself has a lot of space so you don't feel like you are living on top of anyone. Love this place!

Great Location and good rooms in a mediocre building
At first glance, Hancock Villa will remind you of a seedy hotel somewhere on the outskirts of vegas. Apartment entrances encircle a central cement courtyard with a small pool and spa, an arrangement which indicts the building of its 70s origins. While this first impression is unimpressive, the buildings management has done much to renovate it's actual rooms. Gone are the original Shag carpets which blanketed the living room, replaced instead with dark wood. Granite counter tops in the kitchen... and bathrooms contribute further to a luxurious feel. The master bedroom in our two-bedroom is very spacious, and includes a two-section, two-door walk in closet. The shower leaves a bit to be desired, as its worn down plastic flooring is obviously original; however newer renovations seem to be redoing the showers. Privacy is an issue in our room, as all our windows face inward towards the courtyard and thus reveal all our activities to the neighbors if the blinds are open. Street-facing units would obviously not share this issue. Parking is adequate as the building possesses a dingbat design in which the entire first floor is a parking garage. The biggest draw of this building is its location. It is seated in Windsor Square, a small neighborhood situated between the interesting-but-seedy Koreatown and old-monied Hancock Park. Being right across the street from Hancock Park's multi-million dollar mansions gives you a feeling of feeling of safety and luxury in your otherwise affordable apartment. Koreatown, however, is still only blocks away, and offers a plethora of walkable dining options. Hollywood is only a ten-minute Uber drive away, as is downtown, so you are never at a loss for places to go during your freetime. The icing on the cake is the buildings rent-control, a true godsend in modern LA, as well as the reason as to why we won't be giving this unit up anytime soon.

Property Manager at Hancock Villa responded to this review
Thank you for your lengthy and thoughtful review of the building. It is our intention to renovate and modernize the common areas of the building in the near future, so the exterior can match the interiors. We also hope to build a gym where the... management office is currently located.
