If you don’t want to read this whole thing. Bottom line, do not sign here unless you would like to feel unsafe, uncared for by management, and overall stressed for the 11 months you will spend here. The first month here, there was trash everywhere, since the dumpsters were right next to the stairs and residents would throw it next to them -- it caused a horrendous smell for the first 3 months. Also, for the 11 months I spent here, there were roaches infested in the entire building, we continued... to have roaches for both school semesters, even after spending money ourselves trying to get rid of them. Also, the entire Unit #2 smelled like weed half of the time. Our bathrooms smelled like skunk for the entire time.
The management had a concerning amount of low communication. It would take days for things to get fixed or concerns to be answered. Also, they misnamed the room with the smaller closet as “bigger closet,” therefore leading me to believe I was signing for the bigger closet. Yet, that was my fault because the room mislabeled was referring to the room size, not the closet size. There are also homeless people sleeping outside, so unless you are looking for that in an apartment...
Also, this area for living is just not that safe, and I would avoid this area. Again, that’s not the apartment's fault for being in a bad area, but it certainly does not help their case. The parking situation is not good. With the limited parking, parking on the street is your best option, but I don’t recommend that because my car got hit by a city bus while parked (I am not making this up).
My roommate's car got wrongfully towed in the parking garage because of the rubbed-off numbers painted in the garage, and when she asked the manager to come look with her and see if he could see the numbers on the parking spots, he said, “I’m not walking up there.”

There are so many options for students to live in Lubbock so I thought I would use apartmetns.com to narrow down my search. Little did I realize it was going to turn into finding a community that matched its online vibe. After touring The Bloc it was refreshing to find that their online presence matched and was the same in person. Their leasing staff answered all of my questions and their manager was active and responsive to his team to fill in the gaps when they were unsure. Run down and poorly run, not to mention the WI-FI is down constantly. Management is horrible as well and if you have in issue takes forever to get in touch with the Cardinal Group to get issue addressed. Should be easy to find a better place, as none can be worse than the Bloc.

Subpar management at best. Despite their ability to send out limitless renewal requests or spots filling up, otherwise they are totally unavailable to contact. Forced to use their crappy Rental Portal App for all payments and if you have an issue there is no vehicle to contact a human. Their errors are your late fees. NO number to contact anyone unless you are looking to sign a lease, easy to sign a lease, impossible to get assistance on anything else. HORRIBLE!

Recently moved in here to the bloc and from the jump it has been horrible. The day of move ins they decide to move change our room without reaching out to us in advance to see if we are ok with that. Supposedly they “tried” to email us but it never went through although it’s weird their 100 spam emails came through perfectly fine. Took the keys and went to the apartment where we walked in to rotten onion and garlic all over the countertops. Rotten food sitting in the fridge, blood stains going... up the stairs, missing lightbulbs and fixtures, stains on the wall, caked up dirt on the floors, and a black toilet. When we reached out they said they couldn’t clean the common areas because of a renewal but I know that a manager has to sign off on the apartment before new tenants move in. To sign off on this apartment and claim it is move in ready is ridiculous. Since then, they have dodged my emails and emails from my parents regarding this situation.
