I came here to write a review to warn people not to live here assuming there weren't anymore out there and it saddens me that there are so many similar reviews and nothing will change.
DO NOT LIVE HERE.
I moved to Austin from out of town and one of the clerks convinced me to sign a lease after only doing a virtual tour.
Safety: My car was broken into in the parking lot, I informed Verde and they did absolutely nothing, not even a follow up. There are constantly homeless people hanging out in... the parking lots, and (I am a athletic young guy) still feel unsafe when coming home late at night, I cant imagine living there as a girl.
Hygiene: This place is absolutely disgusting. Expect to find a dead cockroach in your apartment daily. You will have to take your clothes to the laundromat because the washing machines are disgusting, smelly, the inside is littered with dog hairs, dirt, weird leftovers of detergent, etc. The "dog park" (a small patch of grass right next to my front door) is constantly covered in dog poop. There is a real smell to the complex.
Maintenance: Bring tools when you move in, cause if anything breaks it's staying that way until you fix it. My air conditioning broke in JULY IN TEXAS and it took them 2 weeks to send someone to fix it.
Price: Your rent will be over $100 more than listed price with random fees and utilities that I don't understand where they go. (Trash fee when I had to bring my garbage to a dumpster, Pest fee which is just hilarious considering the amount of bugs in my apartment, a flood fee, how is that the tenants responsibility?!) AND on top of that, they charged me a parting gift of $800 for insanely manufactured charges (i.e. $120 for small holes made to hang pictures).
Cheapness: I got roped into signing based on the pictures, you will quickly learn they look nice from a distance, but everything is done cheaply; paint, cabinets, utilities, etc. My shower head fell off the ceiling and on top of my head mid-shower.
Staff: A relative indifference to their performance and the quality of the facility. They'll nod their apathetically and listen to your complaints but you know they won't do anything. When I got the final $800 charge, the assistant manager in charge of move out costs gave me such a smug smirk that it took every fiber in my being to just walk out.

Verde Apartments
This complex has been a nightmare to deal with. The property manager and the staff are not fully trained. They do not know how to take a message or return phone calls. The ac has been out in my apartment since I moved in. I have contacted them on five separate occasions about it and they have not even stopped by to check it out. My roommate has a leak in her bathroom ceiling. The maintenance came and just repaired the ceiling, not the source of the problem. One week later and its leaking again.... Go figure. Our patio door does not lock. We had to put a rod in the sliding glass door because no one has come to fix it either. I have only lived here a month and it has been miserable. There is trash all over the grounds. My neighbors are inconsiderate (although I know that does not necessarily have anything to do with management). It overall has been an awful experience. So bad that I am seeking legal advice. No a/c in texas summer heat is not legal. Allowing someone's bathroom to flood because maintenance didn't properly fix the issue is also not right or legal.

A work in progress
Verde apartments, as it is now known, is in the process of getting the hollywood treatment. It's facade is currently being nipped, tucked, and painted. And while the results are not bad, you can get a sense of the frailness lying underneath. First, the good. The appliances they have chosen for their apartments are quite nice (designer apartment option), stainless steel, new and sleek. The countertops are a decent granite. The floors are pleasant and simple. There is a new laundry mat which has... new machines that accept your card as payment and even notify your phone when your washing and drying is done! The area is an up and coming area and it is within walking distance of a great convenience store, a supermarket is less than a 5 minute drive away, and it generally has many of the types of shops you might need relatively close. The neighbourhood feels safe.
A taste of the bad. I will be honest and say that some of the renovation taking place could be done better. The work seems rushed and it shows in some spots. The buildings are old and have some structural issues which they are attempting to fix, but sometimes much later than they should have. The pool needs redoing, the floor of it is very rough and can be unfriendly to your feet if you drag them around in the pool area (no chicken fights for now!). The complex is still under construction, so there is no gym yet (but will be in the future). The sidewalks are uneven and many of them get flooded when it rains.
As I said, it is a work in progress, and if they up their attention to detail, it will be a decent place to live, but don't expect new buildings.

Old building but responsive maintenance team.
This property is currently being developed and renovated. The buildings themselves seem to have a few problems, and the renovations seem hurried, but the maintence team has been very accommodating and the rent is reasonable for the neighborhood. It's not perfect, but it's home.
