Janette grew up on a farm homesteaded in 1912 by her great-grandparents in a small town of just 500 on the rugged plains of Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents moved to the farm when they were married and lived there for 56 years. "They were courageous and hearty people," says Janette. "And they were always breaking new ground, with today you'd call entrepreneurial." They raised acres of grain, cattle, horses, chickens, sheep and pigs. And they raised four strong children - Janette, the oldest, her two brothers and her sister. A Lasting Legacy This upbringing left a lasting legacy and without questions shaped who Janette is today.
