Overall Shellbrook has been a great place to live for almost nine years now. The location is great for us with easy access to the greenways and Shelley Lake. The maintenance and office staff have always been responsive and pleasant to work with.

Shellbrook is a great place to live. it reminds me of living on a college campus. Buildings connected by sidewalks and many beautiful trees to walk by.

I'm leaving Shellbrook sadly disappointed. In the seven years I lived there, I referred three new residents, always kept the apartment clean, paid my rent early each month, and was a good tenant. Shellbrook was good to me, too. Maintenance requests were responded to quickly, and I've been pleased with the community over the years. I've given the property two 5 star reviews in the past.

It's unfortunate that I have to give a 2 star review upon moving out.

The issue: I left the apartment in... great condition when I moved, and expected to receive my $100 security deposit minus my final water bill. Instead, I was charged $40 for a yellow carpet stain and $85 for a pet "pee stain" cleaning fee. From the photos they sent, the "yellow stain" isn't visible and the "pee stain" on the bottom of the carpet is so small that it couldn't have been caused by my 15 lb. cat, who has always, without fail, used the litter box. These stains could have easily been removed by a general carpet cleaning and are signs of regular wear and tear from having lived there for seven years. *Also, the carpet at 7 years old will be replaced anyway.

It baffles me that I should be charged this amount. It disappoints me that after having been such a good tenant that I would be treated so callously upon moving out. I cannot in good conscience recommend Shellbrook or any Drucker and Falk properties. It hurts to get burned. A 2-star review is appropriate. Read More

Great property, Nice area and great for pet owners. North Hills is a 5 min drive away and its a 15 min drive to NCSU/Meredith College. Affordable rent with a good amount of space and parking is open. While there are a few issues with tile-work in the bathroom, a few phone lines hanging with their cases and having the cable line pulled from a closet a room over. Maintenance is great, they usually come within 2-3 days if its a non-emergency and they are very polite.
