**Just a bit of history about the Hill Top Community and how it became known as Hill Top . . . Back when Hwy 15A, once a dirt road, between Terrible Creek's Hill and Hill Top's HIll, they were both about the same size as far as height was concerned until DOT got through downsizing...
My Grandparents; Willie Edward and Lina Agnas Jones Ferrell once owned and ran the two-story Hill Top Service Station (back then it was FULL Service ... the store tenant would wash the windshield, check the oil and air in the tires as well as fill the car with the gas the person wanted.) After a relative passed the home I'm living in now was built in 1949 and when the Officials in Raleigh decided to add a Dual-lane to the existing Hwy 15A, the original Hill Top Service Station was torn down and moved back 200 yards where it sits today -- the Citgo Gas Station. Since Grandma Ferrell was living with us, Daddy decided to build her a home of her own and he did so with the help of the neghborhood men: Lawrence and William Wrenn, Emmett Banks, Bill Stinson, The Turners, and Buck Gerald's daddy and friends.I think Uncle Wright also helped (Millie's husband or was it Aunt Healling's husband...I don't remember just now).
