Property Details
Okay, here goes. This is a unique and weird situation, and a good opportunity for the right person. This is a studio apartment/"room for rent" type of situation. You would be on the first floor of a house. The first floor has two isolated living... spaces. You would have a studio apartment; there is another person living in a separate living space separated by a door. The door is unlocked, but unused. It functions as the egress for both living spaces. So, if there's a fire or something, and you couldn't get out through the main door, you go though this door and out of the living space of the other person. Your space is a private studio; the only exception is the adjoining door.
Now, there's more weirdness. The person who lives in the second living space is my son -- he is a person with autism. A good, kind, friendly, high functioning person, but one with autism. What this means is that you would have to be sensitive to that. You'd have to be able to adapt to a situation in which you live next to a person with autism. If you don't know what that means, well, this apartment isn't for you. If you do, well, this is a good opportunity!
More: I'm as handy as a person with no hands. This is not necessary, but if you are handy, and know how to fix stuff, that's good. Because I'll pay you to fix stuff that you can fix if you need to fix stuff. Otherwise, I get someone competent to fix stuff.
The studio is heated, hot water, free wifi. Laundromat is a block away. The Salem Ferry is a block away. The Salem Willows are right down the street. There's a nice small back yard. It's walking distance to the center of Salem.
Besides that, you must be a competent, accountable and caring person who knows what it means to live in a house with other people. No smoking and no crazy behavior. We are easy to live next to (we are on the second floor).
