If you are thinking about moving to Avalon, think very carefully before you do.
I lived there for several years and it was one of the worst living experiences I have ever had. The noise in that building is absolutely insane. The sound insulation is terrible. You can hear every step, every movement, and every little noise from the apartment above you. It feels like people are literally walking inside your own apartment. Living there was constant stress and frustration.
The management simply... does not care. I complained many times and nothing was ever done.
When I finally moved out, they charged me an unreasonable amount of money for painting and other things that should have been done anyway as normal turnover maintenance. I left the apartment clean, yet they still charged me for cleaning the bathroom and the toilet and even made up additional charges that made no sense.
Overall this place was a nightmare to live in. I would not recommend Avalon to anyone

The pool and jacuzzi have not worked together for almost 6 months now!
The pool and jacuzzi have not worked together for almost 6 months now! They are aware! Today the blowers stopped working. I am begging from someone from Corporate who cares and Upper Level management to Investigate, Address and Resolve this immediately. This has gone on too long.

Older building, poor upkeep
The upkeep on these buildings shows poor effort. The common hallways are never mopped (if something spills or a dog has an accident, it just stays there), the stairs have tape holding the steps together and often smell like urine, the hallway walls are mildewed, outer doors have had metal door handles broken right off! If you are considering moving in, you must see the specific apartment you wish to rent, because they are breaking down; the model is not at all representative of the actual... apartments. Been here almost a year and things seem to be getting worse.

Overpriced facade - not luxury
This place is way overpriced for the quality and should be considered luxury housing. We could pay $150 more and have an incredible luxury apartment in Glendale. It seems more like a place for show than real quality. We moved in 3 months ago in a rush to find a place thinking we'd at least stay for a year, but are already looking at moving. On the surface it looks nice but once we moved in we realized it's really runs down down and dirty. The hall carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in... years and I feel gross every time I walk in and out of my apartment. When it rains the lobby area has a huge backup that is never dealt with. I've reported multiple missing tiles in the pool area which are hazards. The maintenance guys are nice and have fixed those and other issues but some of this we shouldn't have to report, they should care enough to be away and be pro-active. Either someone/something peed on the wall in the hallway or something was spilled, it hasn't been cleaned in over 2 months. The unit cabinets are very worn wood or have 20 layer of pain on them. Wood floors and carpet rooms are in good shape. Our kitchen counters are like vinyl wallpaper that looks like granite. I wouldn't call it a breakfast bar since it's so narrow you can't fit a plate there, just a cereal bowl. The laundry room is pretty gross. My mom cane for a visit and finally emptied out the lint vents that go into the hall. There's a decent amount of storage space in the units. Our unit is a weird layout so it makes fitting furniture hard. We have a long dresser and the master bedroom only has one long wall and some short ones that can't fit much - so it's our bed or our dresser. Pieces of the walls are falling off by the hot tub and that area smells like sewage a lot. The lower hot tub seems dirty a lot. The pool is mostly nice and we use it a lot - that's the saving grace since my little one loves it. In the summer neighbors get into the pool even though it's locked, which isn't horrible but also doesn't feel like having security and a gated complex is actually real security .We also had multiple bathroom floods already from being next to the laundry room and then bathroom sink overflows. There are a lot of industry people here and some families.

Avalon Studio City (formerly Archstone)
Great building and apartment layout. Quiet apartment complex. The maintenance staff, security and management staff are friendly. Rent is expensive compared to other apartments nearby but other than that its a great place to live.
