BEWARE!

I lived in the building for just over 1 year. My next door neighbor was murdered, other homicides and suicides in bldg.
My apartment was broken into by prowlers at night. Our mailroom was robbed multiple times. Garage broken into often, Parking gates not open. Front courtyard routine homeless sleep there.Stained glass doors broken. Neon on roof doesnt work.
Don't buy the historical "love for the bldg hype" Owners do not care about the bldg or about you.
Many residents moved out.
There is no...
security. Elevator does not work and trapped elderly residents on top floor for weeks.
Dispicable ownership . Management has no ability to act. Avoid!!
As beautiful as the bldg is, it is not maintained, and very unsafe.

elegant community in the midst of los angeles

when i came here to the Los Altos Hotel Apartments it was simply for a tour. i was greeted in the lobby by the manager and by a tenant with such warm welcome and i hadn't even seen the apartment yet. in our interview we sat in the huge Hearst Castle style lobby in front of a massive fireplace and enjoyed the luxurious environment's peace of what was to become my new home. i hadn't moved in 24 yrs and was looking for the perfect place. a place that was not only lovely but that also had... considerate neighbors and staff as well. the management and long time tenants here are all so considerate, along with the security guard who is so personable that it feels safe in the middle of the city and i immediately knew this was "home". this bldg is close to metro , buses, coffee houses and restaurants.
the courtyards foliage and fountain make for a gorgeous camouflage against the traffic. this new life in an historic landmark bldg. built by w.r. hearst and it is a dream come true to live here. every apartment is different and the closets are shockingly HUGE!
