Charged me twice for rent

In July, the management company made a billing error and charged my rent twice. I was out of town at the time and didn’t notice right away. That unexpected double charge left me thinking I had no more money to spend, which seriously impacted my trip and plans.

When I brought this up, they admitted it was a company-wide issue but said there was nothing they could do. They offered no compensation, no discount, and no real effort to make things right. It’s unfair for tenants to carry the burden of...
their mistake.

I’m sharing this in hopes that upper management will finally step in and do the right thing, especially as I’ve also been trying to work with them to break my lease at a shared cost due to parking and safety concerns. I genuinely like the leasing staff, but the way management handles serious issues is unacceptable.

Management won't help

I want to start by saying the leasing office staff here have been nothing but kind and professional — they’ve truly done everything they can on their end, and I deeply appreciate that.

The real issue is with upper management’s lack of flexibility. The only reason we’re trying to break our lease is because we need one additional parking space for a work vehicle. Under normal circumstances, this wouldn’t have been a problem, but we were told management can’t offer any extra parking due to...
upcoming construction plans.

This creates a serious safety concern, not just an inconvenience. My husband would be forced to park on the street and walk through the area late at night, which is something I am extremely uncomfortable with because of a past traumatic incident. This isn’t a simple preference — it’s about feeling safe where we live.

I even offered to cover part of the lease break cost to find a fair compromise, but unfortunately, no exceptions were made. That refusal has left us feeling trapped in a situation that could have been avoided with a little more flexibility.

I truly hope management will reconsider and work with us to find a solution. This could have been resolved easily, and it’s disappointing to feel unheard as residents who genuinely love the community. I’m still hopeful someone from upper management will reach out to help make this right.
