I've been living at Chesterfield Apartments in Richmond, VA for nearly four years, and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. Like any historic building—especially one built in 1902—there have been occasional issues, but what truly sets this place apart is how quickly and efficiently management and maintenance respond. Any time I've needed assistance, they've been right there to help. The level of care and responsiveness here is far better than any other place I've lived. Chesterfield... truly deserves a higher rating than it currently has! I highly recommend!!

A great place for student living
I have lived in Chesterfield for the last 7 months and I truly enjoy living here. The front door to the building has a code, so security isn’t an issue. All packages are kept in the office until you pick them up, so you don’t have to worry about any thefts. The building came under new management, which I can personally attest to say always helps to resolve problems. The rent may be slightly higher than other places in Richmond, but the location makes it a less than 10-minute walk to any VCU... academic building. Laundry is less than four dollars per load (washer and dryer). I would recommend this place to my friends and tell them not to be swayed too much by all the bad reviews this place gets.

These people care about you.
I have spent the last 3.5 years at the Chesterfield apartments. I was a student at VCU and loved the building and the overall environment. The staff in this building actually care about you and want to make your time there as smooth as possible. If something went wrong in my apartment (Which didn't happen often) maintenance was there the same day to get my problem resolved. The price for my apartment was very fair and it honestly made things less problematic in my life.

Good Service
The apartments are older apartments, so there will have some minor issues. The issues that I did have were addressed in a timely manner. I renewed my lease in July of this year after hearing there was new management. The new management has been great to me. The past issues were addressed and things have looked up since than. This has made my stay at VCU very affordable.

Oh God What Did I Get Myself Into
Those prior 2 comments are correct. Everything they said happened. I lived here since 2016, today is June 21st 2017. I can't wait to get out of this place! AC units in the kitchen and in my room were broken when I came in. I put a request the 2nd week I moved in, and he (the only dude in the maintenance department) came in a month later and said the filter needed to be clean. He said it should be clean when you moved in. NOTHING was clean at all when I moved in. Dust, hair, and stains were... everywhere. The toilet broke when I arrived. And of course it took more than weeks to fix. The bathroom door doesn't close nor lock. The internet isn't set up for you. The 'call for help' in the elevator doesn't even work. Elevator gets stuck. No security at front door. I saw a homeless dude sleeping in the bench inside the building. It's summertime now and we have mice, flies, and cockroaches problem. Put in pest control request 3 times now. And the management sent out maintenance dude out once. I don't think this 'pest control' department exist. They put notification up on the door, and I sat here all day waiting. No one showed up. They even have the nerve to lie that the pest control people went in and left a note. Landmark is the property manager here and they're horrible at their jobs. I want to warn y'all to GET OUT! (movie pun)
