I lived at Residence West Beach for 4 years, so this isn't a review from someone who stayed a few months. I saw this property change over time, and unfortunately it got worse every year as management changed. The current management, in my opinion, is truly the worst yet.

If you're a medical student, PA student, nursing student, or any other student looking for a place close to campus, I would seriously recommend looking... elsewhere. You're going to need a management team that's responsive and willing to work with you. That was not my experience.

The one bright spot deserves recognition: Sam from maintenance. He is genuinely one of the kindest people I've met. Every time I submitted a maintenance request, he did everything he could to help. He was professional, respectful, and actually cared about residents. He is the reason this review isn't one star solely because of maintenance.

Management, however, was a completely different experience.

When I moved out, I was charged "standard" cleaning fees, including a carpet shampooing fee, despite leaving the apartment in excellent condition. I even took a video before turning in my keys. After I questioned the charges, management admitted they were standard fees and not based on how I left the unit. They also acknowledged that I left the apartment "exceptionally better than most tenants" and reduced some of the charges.

The frustrating part? When I asked where these standard cleaning fees were listed in my lease, I was told they weren't in the lease at all and were supposedly in a separate addendum that was never signed or uploaded to my account. Also, any requests for an itemized receipt were continually ignored.

By the end, management simply zeroed out my remaining balance instead of refunding me my "refundable deposit"/the part that didn't include the water bill in my account. While I'm glad I no longer owed anything, the entire process left a bad impression when I had to fight tooth and nail for every step while working in a job that runs 6 AM to 7 PM (which many of you who are students - medical, nursing, NP, PA, etc - will understand after graduating). Truly as a past resident, it feels so terrible to live in a complex where you're told "I do acknowledge that you left your unit exceptionally better than most tenants and revoked charges" and they are still trying to eat up at your "refundable deposit".

Moved into great 1-bedroom, super amenities, and staff is superb

This has been the best experience I have had moving into a new apt. Kelly & Maddy are very friendly & helpful. The apt is beautiful and spacious and in great condition on moving day. The location is great. Loving it here!
