This property was originally built in 1865 as a single-family home for John Chislett, a renowned local architect and landscape designer, and his family. Mr. Chislett, a sculptor and painter from England, arrived in Pittsburgh in 1832 and later... advocated for, designed, and acted as the superintendent for the nearby Allegheny Cemetery.
