lack of accountability
Since the day we moved into the unit, we have experienced serious issues that should never have existed in a properly rentable apartment.
On the very first day, after taking a shower in the morning, we discovered significant water leakage from the bathroom, which came down through the ceiling and soaked the first floor, causing substantial disruption. Shortly thereafter, the electricity stopped functioning entirely and remained unavailable for a full week.
Ricky came to inspect the situation... promptly; however, the issues could not be resolved immediately, as the water damage had affected multiple areas, including the upstairs closet carpet, the ceiling, and the electrical system. During this period, fans were placed to dry the affected areas for over a week, during which time we were unable to use electricity.
During this process, Ricky also mentioned that there were underlying construction issues with this unit, explaining that the building had been rushed and that similar concerns had been raised by other tenants. This only deepened our concern regarding the condition of the apartment at the time it was leased.
Since then, these problems have continued to recur. Despite submitting multiple service requests, the issues have not been resolved in a timely or lasting manner. We experienced another electrical failure that left us without power for several days while waiting for the correct fuse to be ordered. Most recently, beginning on December 23, we were again without electricity until December 29, when Ricky restored power. We were informed that an electrician would be coming the following day.
At this point, it is difficult not to question why this unit was rented out in the first place, given the nature and frequency of these issues. These are not minor inconveniences; they directly affect the basic habitability of the apartment.
While rent has been fully and promptly collected, there has been no clear explanation, acknowledgment, or accountability as to why we, as tenants, are expected to endure repeated power outages, water damage, and ongoing disruption. This is neither reasonable nor fair.
I have asked the leasing office to escalate this matter to the area manager and also requested that my contact information be shared so that she could reach out to me directly. To date, I have received no response.
Had we been aware of these fundamental problems, we would never have rented this unit.
