Downtown living safely & comfortably!

The location of the property is great if you like more of the “Downtown” scene. Sometimes I forgot we have more at the top of the hill, because we have many shops, stores & restaurants down here; many of these places are just a walk away. Parking is a bit of a struggle as it is street parking (All of Downtown Duluth is struggling with finding parking areas for most of the buildings to cater so many people who frequent this area, so I don’t hold that against Duluth Board of Trades), but there are... a few garages/ramps or parking lots nearby that are accepting monthly payments for a spot. This is nice in the winter time as the plows will come by and they will not care how stuck you get. The security is what really drew me to this building, it is key fob entry for all doors & many of us know to flash our keyfob to a neighbor if we are following in behind them. Property Manager, Kim, is amazing & is always one call away. She has made my experience with getting my first apartment in a place where I essentially knew no one, so smooth. Maintenance has always been on time & respectful; the nice thing is, the building/appliances are all well kept that I don’t need maintenance for much unless it is to change batteries in alarms or the front door! I learned that you should definitely put plastic up on your windows before it starts getting cold, as this is still an older building and we live in MN. Thankfully they do send out emails when the cold months come; with knowledgable tips & tricks to stay warm during the Winter months. Amenities are great; the washer/dryer duo machine is very easy to navigate if you read the Manual they give you. I have found that it isn’t too bad noise wise; I can sometimes hear hallway doors shut or people talking in the hall, but it doesn’t happen frequently. Maybe some outside noise, but I knew that would be a given moving to this area of Duluth (a lot of foot traffic & actual traffic). Free coffee & sometimes treats in the secured mail room, there is a “Community Pantry” to get & give nonparishable items from neighbors, give/take a book in the lounge area & they do cute building/community events (movie night/game night/Holiday decorating) & luncheons- Everyone has been nice & I can honestly say, I have not had one bad experience around this area that would make me feel unsafe living here!

A marvelous place to live

I moved into a studio unit a year ago, and my experience has been very positive. I feel very safe here; the entrance doors are only accessible to residents. Mail and packages are securely delivered to a locked mail room, and many of the units are in closed corridors with access only to those in that area.
Maintenance is excellent! My requests are addressed quickly and efficiently. In addition, management staff are very friendly, efficient, and professional.
The location is excellent: I...
can walk to the store, the library, the hospital, the dentist, and the movies. Best of all, the Duluth YMCA is directly across the street! When the Y is closed, I use the fitness center here; it is well-equipped and very private. I found an inexpensive parking lot very close by, so that is quite convenient as well.
I also love living in an historic building; a grand staircase, wood floors, and my unit has a wall safe, which is really cool. Also, once a month or so, there are community movies on the 8th floor, and it is wonderful to see the room where commodity trading took place, where prices were marked on the huge chalkboard in the grand room.
It's a great place to live, and I extended my lease for another year. I highly recommend the BOT!

Quiet Living & Fitness Room

We have lived here two years. We like that it's quiet here and you can easily take the skywalk anywhere. There is a fitness room that we use a lot.
My girlfriend and I are really liking the new management. The manager is real nice and quick to answer my texts. We had a problem with our kitchen sink and the maintenance dude fixed it the same day.

I Lived Here

I lived here while it was still under construction so I can't speak to the public areas, but I can say I always felt very comfortable here.
The staff was very kind and helpful, they did the best they could with what they had. I had a broken window from the day I moved in until I left which did seem a bit odd to me but it didn't bother me too much.
The appliances were great! I was in a studio and every appliance was almost a shrunken version of a normal-sized one and that was perfect for me...
as I was living on my own. The walls are also nice in the sense that I'd rarely hear anything from outside my place, only the neighbor's puppy who had some choice words for people passing outside occasionally but that was never a bother to me. My bathroom was quite large too which was a surprise. I was very happy living here.
I just dropped a star because I think there were a few misleading things throughout the construction process.
