I am a 45-year-old disabled individual who has been on the housing commission waitlist since the beginning year of 2025.
I have reached out to the Detroit housing commission several times concerning my applications and also rental properties availability.
I have been homeless for over a year. I am shocked to see that Village Park Apartments removed me from the waiting list without reaching out to me.
The property managers claim they sent an email underneath the waiting list contact history... they falsely documented and stated they had no response from me.
I provided a good telephone number and also email address looked over my email on the date that they sent this response to the Detroit commissions office and I have no emails from this property,
I am so hurt I am in tears right now. I cannot believe that someone would do this to me and skip over my application and give my home to someone else when I waited all this time and I am still homeless to this day.
If this situation is not addressed immediately I will be reaching out to a lawyer concerning discrimination.
