Summer Hill Glen Uncomfortable Living

Any retirement community that is situated on a series of hills, and considers having laundry facilities as an amenity should serve as a warning sign. This is not a place that offers significant accommodations for anyone with physical disabilities. Trash disposal is located at a great distance from many of the buildings (in my case, 2/10s of a mile round trip, down and up hills.)
Apartment management is very sporadically on-site, in contrast to the advertised 4 days a week from 8am-5pm.
Unless...
you lived on the “2nd floor” (meaning street level) you have to go up and down 28 stairs to go your mail or to go to the front door. It’s another 8 stairs up and down to get to the street.

Nice Apartments

Pros -. Managers are easy to work with, maintenance is right on the ball fixing any problems, landscaping and parking areas are well maintained, and if you move your car while they're down there, they'll snow plow your space out for you. No ants or other bugs, never seen either here. And despite what most listings say, they do take cats, up to 2. Dogs with a Dr's note.

Cons -. Random false fire alarms where we have to go outside and freeze while the fire dept figures out who burned their...
toast. Tiny, tiny parking spaces make it really hard to get in and out of your car. 1 washer and 1 dryer per building makes laundry take longer than it should.

Our management and maintenance teams aim to deliver an exceptional apartment living experience for all residents. We allow 2 cats per household, but dogs are... not permitted. Residents need to complete a reasonable accommodation request to bypass this regulation. While we are excited about your pros, we are sorry to learn of your cons. In the instance you described, we are glad to know our fire alarms are working but are sorry you had to hang outside in the cold weather. That is not ideal, but necessary to keep the building secure.
