Disappointed with Apartment After Finally Moving in
I was one of the first residents in this apartment complex and it was not done before school started, despite being repeatedly told it would, but they put us up in a nearby hotel for a few weeks and paid for storage.
There were some things to this brand new apartment that were noticeable immediately: the intercom I was told would be there was non existent, the floor was scratched up, the screen door was torn, there was dried plaster completely covering the floor in the pantry, the trim was... crooked and pieced together incorrectly, doors were flimsy and cheap, the floor was uneven, the paint on the walls was uneven and globby, and the area in the hallway and lobby was unfinished and was not complete until about a month or two before I was to moved out almost a YEAR LATER. I voiced all of these issue to Olympus and they only added it to my discrepancy list and replaced the screen door after a few weeks. This was only the start of the problems I noticed.
After living in the apartment for a few months I discovered a bunch of issues: the light switches were put on upside down at the entrance, and after telling maintenance about this issue they only fixed ONE of the two switches on the upside down panel and left a note saying they "needed more parts" but never came back to fix the other one, there were exposed nails, the paint on the walls in the bathroom and kitchen would stain when they got wet, the sink in the kitchen would develop a dark, permanent, ring when anything was placed in it for a few hours, the granite counter top was not properly sealed, despite being told that it was after voicing this problem to Olympus, and would stain when it got wet, there was no way to dispose of garbage apart from the dumpster in the garage, making the elevator constantly smell awful from everyone using it with their trash and it infrequently being cleaned, the ceilings were incredibly thin and I would constantly, and clearly, hear people walking up and down the MAIN HALLWAY AND ROOMS ABOVE ME, worst of all the elevator constantly broke down despite being brand new and was broken for an extended period of time up to and including my move out date, making it extremely difficult to carry everything down the stairs.
Despite the majority of these problems being on the constructions end, they took a hefty sum out of my deposit to "repaint the walls". The other properties by Olympus might be better, but this one has been a mess and I never want to lease with them again.
