1. Mice in multiple units. Some moving out because of lack of treatment. 2. You pay a monthly fee for your Latch door (they pay nothing). You pay for their insurance (even though they also require you to have their own renters insurance). 3. They are not responsive to maintenance requests 4. They don't shovel in winter. 5. Huge rent and fee increases every year

Big Vintage Unit with Quirky Layout in Nice Neighborhood
The one bedroom apartment I currently lease from Wirtz Realty is nearly 1000sqft for a reasonable price - almost unheard of in Evanston. The bedroom, living room, and dining room are all quite large. Though it's odd that the only bathroom is directly off of the bedroom and the kitchen doesn't have much counter space. The building staff is very responsive and takes pride in making sure the building and the units are well taken care of. This is very fortunate because we've had plenty of reasons... to call on their service.
Upon moving in, the several windows had been painted shut and needed attention before they could be opened. The ceiling in the bathroom and dining room started leaking one spring but was repaired. The walls and molding have been painted over so many times that chunks of paint fell from the ceiling. The hardwood floors are very creaky and nails come up from time to time.
The building is in a very safe, quiet neighborhood with tree lined streets. The South Boulevard CTA and Main St Metra stops, restaurants, shopping, a half-dozen parks, and the lake are all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Overall, the size of the unit, the attentiveness of the staff and the location are enough reason to make me look past its quirky layout and rough edges.
