This was, without question, the worst rental experience I have ever had.
People on the second floor went an entire summer without AC. An entire summer. In an income-restricted building, that is completely unacceptable. We were given AC window units that skyrocketed energy bills and we were not compensated for that. The elevator was down for about 4-5 months as well although there are handicap residents residing there. Requests were either ignored, brushed off, or met with rude and... passive-aggressive responses from the landlord. Communication felt hostile instead of helpful, and it was clear tenant comfort was not a priority.
For a property that markets itself as income-restricted, the rent is outrageously high for what you actually get — which is poor maintenance, unaddressed repairs, and a building that is consistently dirty and neglected. The laundry rooms were almost always disgusting. Machines rarely worked properly and often failed to dry clothes, meaning you end up paying multiple times just to finish one load.
Move-out was the final insult. I was given a long, detailed cleaning checklist and completed every single item thoroughly. Despite leaving the apartment in excellent condition, I did not receive a single dollar of my deposit back. Instead, I was charged additional “repairs.” After maintaining the unit and dealing with unresolved issues for so long, being billed more on the way out felt like pure exploitation.
The building is poorly maintained, management is unprofessional, and tenants are clearly not respected. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere unless you enjoy paying too much for substandard living conditions and being treated like an inconvenience.
