I was here for 4 months. It's a total rip off. Roach infested too

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. Formerly lived here. Would absolutely not recommend moving in here unless you had no other options. The landlords were recently sued for not giving prorated rent for late move ins(illegal), and attempting to take 150 dollars out of the deposit for a "common area cleaning fee" illegal. I was fine with the old management, but the place has been sold. Here's what MULTIPLE residents have experienced since:
- There are no rental contracts and rent is decided via word of mouth (and different people will tell you different things). This is so they can change the rules whenever they want.
- After the building was sold, existing tenants were told rent would not increase, but we saw an ad on Craigslist renting rooms for $100-$200 cheaper than ours and allowing multiple people to share... the same room (previously not allowed). Later, they told existing tenants rent WOULD increase.
- When something is broken, you will wait ages and ages before you get ahold of them. It is virtually impossible. When THEY want to do something drastic--like change the locks or install security cameras--they will inform you the day/night before, via email or notices slid under people's doors.
- These people want everything to be under their control and nothing under yours. Not a fair rental agreement. Sure, this is Hawaii... housing is expensive and landlords hold all the good cards because of the laws of supply/demand.
