DO NOT RENT HERE.
I have lived at Portofino Place for only two months, and I already regret moving here.
The customer service is terrible. Calls and emails go unanswered, and when you go into the office, you are treated like you are bothering them for expecting basic service.
I have seen roaches since moving in and contacted the office about pest control—no response. The front gate has never worked since I have lived here, and I have yet to see the security presence they advertise.
What really... gets me is how quickly they can send rent reminders, but somehow there is no urgency when residents need problems fixed.
This place was sold as a “luxury apartment community.” There is absolutely nothing luxurious about roaches, broken gates, poor communication, and ignored concerns.

I was applicant recently. I am a nurse with stable income and perfect background but obviously my credit history was not good enough so I was THE NUMBER NOT A PERSON. My credit history doesn’t have any rental issues, even credit score was not so bad …. But I WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS MANAGEMENT. I WAS A NUMBER NOT A PERSON WITH A NAME, not a nurse who works hard and long hours, no complaining just saying.

I had to say this because made me feel so small and unappreciated.

Poor Management, roach infestations everywhere, and not to mention trash all over the community. Just read the actual reviews not the ones they make residents leave during resident events.

RATS!!!! My apt had rats. It took more than 4 days to get to my request for pest control. I heard noise coming from the kitchen a few nights in the row. I thought it was maybe the people under me because they have very thin walls and you can hear your neighbors at times. I didn’t think much of it, until I noticed that my bagel bag had a hole in it that I had just purchased. The next day I had a huge bite in my taco shells it was more than CLEAR that a rat had bit into it. I immediately left and... went to a friends house until I heard back from them once I put in the pest control request.
It took them 4 days to get back to me. I went into the office to speak with them directly. This is when I requested I get a vacation suite apt until they take care of the matter which is URGENT. They expected me to sit in the rat infested apartment until they figured it out as if that’s safe. I stayed in the suite for one day/night as the maintenance manager sealed the hole that the rats were coming through. They advised me that pest control would come out and give me an update everything and they did not.
I had already decided not to renew my lease more than 60 days in advance. I did consider downsizing, but did not do so because of this whole rat situation also I made sure to do this on time through the portal.
Once I moved out they charged my account the full month of RENT because they claimed I did not give them 60days notice which I did. Mind you they charged me after moving out and seeing my final balance.
They are ignoring all my emails and will not give me a reason to why they charged me thar amount. I would sleep in my car or with a family member before staying at a rat infested “luxury apartment”. Also the gates never work!! So anyone can come in…

I have been living in Cortland for two months. We are adjusting but we are happy to live in this community. The spaces are incredible and we enjoy them a lot. There are things to improve like in any other place, but in general it is an incredible place to live with your family.
