Thin walls & poor management

I’ve been living here for about 8 months now- The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and saying as if it’s being done in your room. Also in warmer months when people are outside and concerts are going on all that street noise is very audible from the apartment. I once had to sleep on my bathroom floor due to a rap concert they were having on the street from 9-11:30pm. The elevator is broken at least once a month. The property managers and handyman are a... combination of fake, rude, and creepy. The other review was correct as the laundry unit shakes so violently that it rattles the cabinet it lives in creating a very loud and annoying noise. The garbage chute has never worked, so prepare to lug your garbage to the basement. Only positive is that the man that cleans the building is really nice and friendly.

Theft and Inconsiderate Neighbors

After living here for several months now, there have already been significant causes for both irritation and alarm. While the apartment is beautiful, this is significantly outweighed by the not-so-good and even scary aspects of living here. Firstly, the walls are incredibly thin, so noise from both the road and inconsiderate neighbors spreads quickly. The in-unit washers/dryers are also really loud, vibrating the floor so you can hear whenever anyone around you is doing laundry... for hours.... These thin walls also don't contain the smoke smells (yes, even though this is a "smoke-free" building, people do it anyway) so you're left smelling smoke throughout the day if your neighbors decide to smoke. Now onto the scary things. Package thefts are regular. Even though there are cameras, the thieves are never caught and people (yes, neighbors) continue to let them in. Last night, several bikes were stolen because of it. Additionally, this is not a covid-friendly building. Few people wear masks in common areas (lobby, elevator)--including management. Have fun using the stairs forever or taking the elevator with people that don't care about anyone other than themselves and risking getting covid because of it. My car has also gotten dinged in the parking lot, so there's also that fun thing to deal with. So, even though management offered to replace the bikes stolen this round, have fun getting your packages stolen, smelling smoke, and hearing your neighbors blast music and yell several times a day. I know I'm not.

I LOVE living here!!!

I moved in 11/21 and could not be happier. The rustic charm of the historic building with the modern updates can’t be beat in my opinion. It’s very quiet here and the staff is very attentive to my needs. I feel like a VIP every time I speak with them. My unit has exposed brick walls, Exposed wood ceilings and HUGE windows. It’s not cold or loud. I highly recommend HFC and couldn’t be happier.
