Dealing with The Civic’s property management has been one of the most frustrating experiences. Getting responses from them on basic issues was nearly impossible, and every request felt like an uphill battle.
•Utility Costs: I was told my utility bill would be around $60/month due to low-flow faucets, but my first bill was $180/month—triple the expected amount. Turns out, they use RealPage, a system under DOJ investigation and banned by the Board of Supervisors. •Move-in Chaos: Once I signed... the lease, I never received move-in instructions. I had to scramble on moving day and even lacked access to the freight elevator. •Noise Complaints Ignored: When I asked for updates regarding excessive noise from a nearby construction site, management simply sent a generic monthly pamphlet with no useful information and told me to reach out to the construction team myself. •Locker System Issues: Instead of helping with access issues, they referred me to the locker provider, even though the contract is with the building, not residents. •Gym Wipes: I requested sanitizing wipes for the gym six or seven times via email. After they assured me it would be resolved, I returned to the gym—and nothing had changed. They blamed maintenance, acting as if they had no control over the issue.
If you’re considering living here, just be prepared to handle everything yourself because the property management is either unresponsive, incompetent, or just doesn’t care.
Since posting my other online review, I’ve noticed a shift in how the new leasing personnel interact with me—there’s a clear sense of coldness whenever I walk into the building, and it’s happened multiple times so far.

Elma,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your concerns, and we appreciate the opportunity to address them. We strive to provide an excellent living experience and meet the expectations of all our residents.
Regarding the... utility charges, these are calculated based on actual building usage and the number of occupants in each unit. We aim to ensure transparency in this process, and there may have been some misunderstanding in the communication. We would be happy to meet with you in person to review the details and clear up any confusion.
We truly value your residency and would appreciate the chance to discuss your concerns further to find a resolution. Please feel free to visit our office or reach out at your convenience.
Thank you again for your feedback.

Extreme noise
5 days a week, a garbage pickup truck stop by and make a ridiculous noise almost everyday around 3am. That and you can hear people screaming and making noise at the building right next to it (San Francisco Department of Public Health). I work from home so I spent few months everyday at this place, and not a moment of peace here 24/7.
It was slightly cheaper then other similar buildings nearby, and you'll find out the reason for it in the first night.
