I’ve had a really positive experience living at Strauss on Fifth. My apartment is spacious for a one-bedroom and has incredible views. The Bankers Hill/Hillcrest location is fantastic—central to everything and within easy reach of great restaurants, bars, and nightlife.

The on-site building manager, Elaine, is friendly, responsive, and does a great job keeping the property running smoothly. The maintenance team is also excellent, with most repairs completed within 24 hours.

The residents are... friendly and the building has a welcoming community feel. Overall, I’m very happy here and would definitely recommend Strauss on Fifth to anyone looking for a place to live in San Diego.

I’ve had a great experience living at Strauss on Fifth for over 2 years and would highly recommend it. The building manager is exceptionally friendly, helpful, and always willing to go out of her way to assist residents. The apartments have spacious floor plans, and the neighbors are friendly and welcoming. The 2nd-floor community room is a great spot to host get-togethers, and the location is truly second to none. Balboa Park is within walking distance, with excellent restaurants, breweries,... and pizza spots all nearby. I used to live in Manhattan, and typically people didn't know their neighbors, and kept to themselves, even a brusqueness in communications. That was fine, but I like the vibe of this building much better. The tenants here say hello. Neighbors help each other out. Cars are courteous in the parking lot.

The staff is gregarious, competent, and reasonable. If something breaks, they fix it fast and are nice about it. The common areas are kept in tip-top shape. I feel treated like a... human being.

My selfish ask is if you prefer a Manhattan-style, distant, unforgiving environment, nothing wrong with that, but please choose a different building so we can keep the vibe here. :) Read More

I loved living at Strauss for the past three years. It’s in a great location, with lots of restaurants, exercise classes, and shops nearby, and it’s so close to Balboa Park, which we went to a lot. The building itself was great with new appliances, spacious rooms with lots of storage, a huge living room window that let in tons of light, plus a big balcony for chairs and plants. I loved using the hot tub, the grills, and the gym, and if something was ever wrong, I could ring my apartment... maintenance and it would get fixed the same day. The people in the building were also nice, and there were lots of events in the community room, which people advertised in the elevator. Elaine, the building manager, was also amazing and helped with everything around the community to make it a great place to live. I would highly recommend living here. I’m only moving out of town, otherwise I’d stay!

Location, location, location! Wonderful family owned stores around and my neighbors have been some of the best people I've met. Maintenance and staff are always helpful and very responsive. Pet friendly building was a huge plus for us.
