I recently moved into one of the newly renovated apartments at San Katrina and I absolutely adore it! It has a lot of character and is unlike the typical apartments out there. If you want to live near the beach, this place definitely has the beach feel with a white exterior and upgrades within that make this place feel like its brand new. It's a block to the beach and a block to Carlsbad Village. Talk about convenience! The only issue that I have experienced that keeps me from giving San... Katrina a rating of 5 stars is that it is not a non-smoking property. I have had to deal with the smell of smoke as some of my neighbors smoke outside and the smell wafts through my apartment due to the sea breeze. I have made the property manager aware of the issue and she has been helpful in trying to find a solution. It is my understanding that as current tenants renew their lease the new non-smoking policy in any of the outdoor areas will be enforced. I am counting down the months until that happens, but in the meantime the smell of smoke is evident as you walk by some of the smoking tenant's apartments or if you end up living above a smoker then the 2nd hand smoke is hard to avoid. Once the new rule is fully enforced then this property deserves a 5 star rating.
